ABOUT US 

We are ARCOS, an innovative SaaS company dedicated to transforming critical infrastructure industries. We are embarking on a multi-year project with a keen focus on cloud infrastructure, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, while also establishing the cross-cutting concerns necessary to our next generation SaaS Platform. We thrive on data-driven decision-making and are looking for a hands-on Platform Architect to help build and shape the foundation of our cloud infrastructure for the next stage of our growth. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

As a seasoned and hands-on Platform Architect, you'll leverage your expertise in systems design and architecture to build scalable, resilient, and high-performing platforms. This role demands a deep grasp of automation, AWS cloud infrastructure, and a system-wide perspective, ensuring seamless interaction between all components. We're seeking someone passionate about crafting robust solutions that empower developers, with a sharp focus on reducing complexity, boosting reliability, driving innovation, and optimizing cloud costs.

At ARCOS, we work with cutting-edge tools like Java, Spring Boot, AWS RDS (Postgres, SQL Server), Oracle, AWS Serverless tech (Lambda, SQS), REST, JavaScript, and React Native. All of this runs on AWS, with seamless collaboration powered by Atlassian tools like Jira, BitBucket, and Confluence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and architect scalable, reliable systems for diverse organizational needs.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using AWS CDK, Pulumi, and CloudFormation.

  • Integrate build tools (Gradle, Maven, NPM, React Native) into system architecture.

  • Design secure, efficient cloud environments leveraging AWS infrastructure.

  • Optimize system-wide behavior using systems thinking principles.

  • Make cost-efficient architecture decisions in AWS while maintaining performance.

  • Develop automation scripts in Python or similar languages for system processes.

  • Use Unix tools (sed, awk, grep) to manage large-scale operations.

  • Conduct technical evaluations of new tools and present recommendations.

  • Document decisions via Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).

  • Mentor engineering teams on best practices in systems design and automation.

  • Address bottlenecks and propose architectural improvements.

  • Align platform architecture with business goals and developer needs.

  • Architect and build high-performance data infrastructure for event-driven systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver platform infrastructure.

 

Skill Requirement 

  • 5+ years in system architecture or platform engineering. 
  • Expertise in designing platforms systems with a focus on performance impact. 
  • Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lamba, IAM) and tools like AWS CDK, Pulumi and CloudFormation.
  • Proficient in build tools (gradle, Maven, NPM, React Native) and automation scripting (python or similar) 
  • Skilled with Unix tools (sed, awk, grep) for large-scale operations. 
  • Focused on reducing complexity and optimizing AWS cloud costs. 
  • Experienced in technical evaluations, ADR documentation and mentoring teams 
  • Strong problem solving skills with a hands-on, collaborative approach.
